The county of Shropshire is located in the west-midlands region of England and is one of the country’s most sparsely populated counties. The county town of Shropshire is Shrewsbury with a population of around 67,000 recorded at the last Census in 2001. Other notable towns in the county are: Telford; Oakengates; Donnington; Dawley and
Wellington.
The longest river in Great Britain, the River Severn, runs through Shropshire which also has an Area of Outstanding Beauty (AONB), the Shropshire Hills that covers a massive one quarter of the county.
