The county of Oxfordshire is located in the south-east region of England and shares its borders with Warwickshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire. The biggest settlement is Oxford itself with a population recorded at the last Census in 2001 of 143,000 residents.

The other main towns in Oxfordshire are: Abingdon; Banbury; Bicester; Didcot and Witney. Aside from its world renowned university, Oxford has a thriving tourist industry and a history dating back to the 10th Century.
