The county of Nottinghamshire is located in the east-midlands region of England. The county town is the city of Nottingham which at the last Census in 2001 had a population of around a quarter of a million people. Nottinghamshire borders the counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire.
Aside from Nottingham, other main towns in Nottinghamshire are: Clifton; Arnold; Carlton; East Retford; Hucknall; Kirkby in Ashfield; Mansfield; Newark on Trent; Sutton in Ashfield; West Bridgford and Worksop.
